Shaze: The Ultimate Lounge Chair (Fall 2016)

Shaze is a beach chair with built-in electronics that I designed in my role as Head of Engineering at Blink Innovations, a small consumer products startup, in conjunction with the product designer and industrial engineer. Its features include a battery, phone charger, speaker, lockbox, towel holder, cooler, and bottle opener. Custom-injection molded plastic armrests house and waterproof the electronics.

• Working prototype led to preorders of over $100k.

• Reduced original manufacturing cost estimate by 30% through redesign and material selection without compromising quality.

• Met all requirements for battery life, speaker quality, and durability laid out by market research.
